Behavioural Specialist Services
Behavioural Specialist Support at Shine is provided by a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) using
CBT-informed, low-intensity psychological interventions (LICBT). This support helps children and young people
understand the links between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and develop practical coping strategies to
improve emotional wellbeing and everyday functioning.
Support may include direct work with children and young people, as well as parent-led interventions, a
UK-developed brief guided self-help parenting approach. This evidence-based intervention supports parents to
better understand their child’s behaviour, strengthen the parent–child relationship, and use practical strategies
to reduce the escalation of behavioural and emotional difficulties.
This approach is structured, evidence-based, and goal-focused, supporting children to build confidence,
emotional regulation, and resilience at home, school, and in the wider community. Parent involvement is
encouraged where appropriate to help embed strategies beyond sessions and support meaningful, lasting
change.
